The Witcher: Blood Origin, Release Date, And What We Know So Far

The Witcher season 3 is set to be released in 2023. Before the mother series, we will be getting a limited prequel series called The Witcher: Blood Origin in December 2022 on Netflix. Along with Blood Origin, several Witcher projects are under development including an animated spin-off and an especially kid’s series.

Writers of The Witcher: Blood Origin crowns Kiersten Van Horne known for Berlin Station and Snowpiercer, Aaron Stewart-Ahn known for Mandy, Alex Meenehan known for The Man in the High Castle and Bosch, Tania Lotia known for Swamp Thing and Carnival Row, Pooja Gupta known for Mary Mary, Tasha Huo known for Black Belle, and Troy Dangerfield known for Castle.

The Witcher: Blood Origin Cast

Sophia Brown will play Eile who uses knives as the main weapon and Mirren Mack will play Merwyn. Sophia was previously seen in Netflix’s Giri/Haji and Mirren Mack is known for Mudlarks.

Laurence O’Faurain will play the role of Fjall Stoneheart. He was previously seen in Rebellion and Vikings. Fjall is a physically strong, gritty, and visceral character. Fjall possibly becomes the continent’s first Witcher.

Jacob Collins-Levy  will play Captain Eredin. The actor was cast in The Witcher Season 2 for his older version. This character is the main connection between the mothership series and the prequel.

The Witcher: Blood Origin Timeline

A short synopsis of The series was released with the announcement that said that the Blood Origin is set at 1,200 years before the events of The series, in an elvish civilization that has yet to interact with humans or monsters. It follows a trio of warrior elves who will become entangled with the creation of the first prototype Witcher.  It also spans the events leading up to the Conjunction of the Spheres — the moment the human, elf, and monster worlds collide.

The trailer of The Witcher: Blood Origin has not been released yet. But the teaser was attached in the post-credit scene of The Witcher Season 2.

The Witcher: Blood Origin release date

Netflix Tudum confirmed that the series will be released all at once. The Witcher: Blood Origin is set to be released on 25 December 2022. This is a limited series and consists of only 4 episodes.
