Netflix has released a new trailer for its live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Avatar will be out on Netflix on February 22, and the recently released trailer is full of combat and humor. The story focuses on Aang, the young avatar, and how he creates a balance between water, earth, fire, and air to protect the world from the fire nation. Avatar is set in a world of four elements, called nations in the series. Some people from these four can control or “bend” these elements; however, only Avatar can bend all four elements, which eventually puts the responsibility on his shoulders to maintain balance.
The series starts with Avatar Aang, played by Katara and Sokka, played by Kiawentiio and Ian Ousley, respectively. Aang had been frozen for a century and instantly jumped into a chaotic world after being released. The Fire Nation, one of the four elements, has revolted, and now Avatar has to keep the situation under control. Aang, played by Gordon Cormier, can be seen saying, “I’m the Avatar and I’m going to save the world—with my friends,” in the trailer, which consists of prolific beauty and a “flying ball of fur.”This remake will have eight episodes and was first announced in 2018. However, it has faced many obstacles since then. In 2020, the original series creators, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, stepped away from the project due to some differences. However, the executive producer and showrunner for the series, Albert Kim, has done a remarkable job so far. The viewers are already finding it better than the Last Airbender movie by M. Night Shyamalan in 2010. Albert Kim said in a conversation with IGN, “Our core cast went through about a six-week boot camp where they learned martial arts and learned the different bending techniques, even if it wasn’t their own technique, they had to learn all four.”
